Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He discovered love for Colorado. He eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many all over the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite side of the world one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The song was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential the moment he heard it for the first time. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after having performed on stage in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
